I grew up a military brat, but a good chunk of my childhood and teenage years were spent in the Flint Hills of Kansas. If you have never been, I would suggest you go! Talk about lowering your blood pressure! It is quiet and peaceful and green… and even though I didn’t appreciate Kansas when I lived there, I always feel a sense of wholeness and peace whenever we go back and visit.
Last weekend, my hubby and I had the chance to make a quick trip back to Kansas for his cousin’s wedding. The wedding was beautiful and we loved getting to be a part of a wedding, instead of being the ones planning it! We stayed with Ben’s parents, drove through our hometown, saw some family and even caught a few shooting stars! While it was a quick trip, it was just lovely. Ben’s mom and step-dad live in an awesome home in the country and it was great recharging our batteries, walking around graveyards, practicing taking pictures on my new camera, eating his mom’s homemade cookies, playing board games and relaxing together.
It was a great little trip 🙂
Here are a few highlights:
Here are a few pictures we took at the homestead!
We got a chance to walk around a small cemetery nearby and take some cool pictures – I love cemeteries… I always have. They are peaceful and quiet and I love reading tombstones and getting a glimpse into someone’s life…
We had a blast and can’t wait to go back… here’s one last parting shot – A view from our backseat window while road-tripping across the Wheat State ❤ Thanks for checking in, be sure to like us on facebook/follow via e-mail and have a relaxing, repurposeful day! xo- Court
